ENGAGEMENTS

Should we take engagement photos?  Absolutely!  It’s a great time for us to get to know each other before the wedding day.  Sessions are fun and relaxed.  Images are typically used for save-the-date cards, a custom guest book, or framed prints at the guest tables.

Can we see a full set of engagement session images?  Yes.  Please contact me and I will send you a link to a full set of proofs.

Do you do Save-The-Dates?  Yes.  Please contact me for samples.

Do you do custom Sign-In Guest Books?  Yes. These are designed similar to my wedding albums with custom photo covers and pages, and have empty page space for guests to sign.  Please contact me for samples.

WEDDINGS

What is your style?  I don’t limit myself to any particular style, but if I had to describe one I would say it’s a mix of Photojournalism and Editorial, with some Traditional to capture the Formals.

Do you deliver every image you shoot?  No, I do not.  I take a very high number of images, and eliminate duplicate images, test shots, shots with bad expressions, etc., and still deliver a high number of images that will more than adequately cover your day.

Do you do video?  No.  I only do still photography.  I’m happy to recommend a videographer.

Do you do photo booths?  No.  Photo booths don’t lend themselves to my photography style, and could be a distraction to my ability to capture the wedding day in still images.

My ceremony venue is really dark.  How do you handle these situations?  I utilize existing lighting as much as possible. For ceremony venues that do not allow flash photography, I have the latest equipment, along with the knowledge and skills to capture images in any given lighting situation.

Do you have other photographers?   I am able to “more than adequately” capture a wedding as the only photographer, however, in situations where another photographer is needed or requested a second photographer is available for an extra fee.

Will you be the photographer at our wedding?  Of course!  I will not surprise you by sending another photographer to photograph your wedding.

Do you bring backup equipment?  Absolutely!  I carry backup equipment with me at all times on the wedding day.

Will you double-book the wedding day and cancel our wedding for another higher priced one?  Absolutely not!  Once your wedding coverage is booked, the date is reserved and I will not entertain other offers for that date.

Do you shoot RAW or JPEG?  I only shoot RAW images for engagement sessions and weddings, to capture the highest quality image.

Do you provide partial coverage?  Partial coverage may be available for days other than Fridays or Saturdays, or for short notice (within two months).

Do you travel?  Yes!  I travel across the Midwest and beyond.  Please contact me for destination weddings.

Can we see a full wedding from “start to finish”?  Absolutely!  Please contact me and I will check to see if your wedding date is available, and if so, send you a link to a full set of wedding proofs.

How much coverage do we need?  It depends on several factors, but typical wedding day coverage is around 8-10 hours.  Each wedding is unique and as such I prepare a timeline to make sure I am there to capture all of the important events of the day.

What if we want more coverage time?  If known ahead of time, additional hours of coverage can be included in the agreement.  If unknown until the wedding day, we can agree on the amount of time and I can bill you later.

Should we see each other before the ceremony?  It’s really up to you.  If you decide not to see each other before the ceremony, we need to plan accordingly to make sure there is enough time afterward, for the formals and outside sessions before the reception.  If you decide to see each other before the ceremony, we can schedule an intimate moment beforehand where you can meet and interact with each another.  This is typically the first time the Groom sees you in your wedding dress.

When should you arrive at the ceremony venue?  I usually arrive 2-3 hours before the ceremony and stay through all the main events of the reception (cake cutting, first dances, toasts, etc.).

How many photos will you take?  This depends on several factors including the amount of coverage, variety of activities, etc.  There is no limit to the number of images I capture.

Do you post photos on Facebook after the wedding?  Yes!  I typically post a few select images later that evening or the next day, and tag you and the Groom so your friends and family can share in the excitement of the day.

Do you edit the photos?  Yes!  I edit all of the proofed images for color, exposure, and contrast.

Do you retouch the photos?  I frequently do some retouching for the images I post on Facebook, and for images that are included in print orders, and for images included in album selections.  The amount and degree of retouching done is at my discretion.

What do you retouch?  I typically retouch skin blemishes for close-ups.  I sometimes eliminate distracting objects.  I may do some skin smoothing for portraits.

What if we want more retouching?  Additional retouching is available for a fee, and is custom quoted.

How long will it take before I see the proofs?  This depends on several factors including number of images, my workload, etc.  That said, I typically post the proofs within two weeks after the wedding.

Do we get the hi-res photos?  All of my listed packages include uncropped Hi-Res images files with a Personal Use License, delivered on either a DVD or Flash Drive.

Why would I want to buy an album if I can get the disk and do my own?  Several reasons:  1)  Most couples never find the time.  2)  Most couples don’t have the skills or knowledge to build a custom storybook album with custom page layouts corresponding to a specific group of images that will “tell the story” of the wedding day.  3)  Most quality album companies don’t sell albums to people other than professional photographers.  4)  Most discount album or book companies use low quality binding and page materials that will not last more than a few weeks, months, or years.  They also typically don’t use actual photographic paper for accurate color.

What types of albums do you offer?  I only offer “premium quality” hand crafted albums from industry-leading companies.  Cover materials are very high quality, and the images are on photographic paper that is coated and mounted precisely on page material.  As such, they are built to last a lifetime.  I design all of the custom page layouts, based on the images you select.  I would be happy to schedule a meeting with you to view my samples.

How long will it take before I receive my print order?  I typically process print orders within a few days, and my lab typically processes the order with two business days, and shipping is typically 2-4 business days.  So, usually within 2 weeks.

Do you back-up the images?  Yes.  I have several backups of each wedding, and also utilize an off-site backup location for safekeeping.

Are you insured?  Yes.  I have professional photography insurance including liability coverage.

What type of payments do you accept?  I accept cash, checks and credit cards (American Express, Visa, MasterCard, Discover).

Are you a Full-Time Photographer?  If not, will your “day job” cause any issues with photographing our wedding and delivering our products?  I am a Full-Time Photographer and have no other business commitments to interfere with photographing your wedding.
