Carly & Tim – March 26, 2008 – The Club at Indian Creek

What a fun wedding!

Carly & Tim, the wedding party, and their family & friends were great to work with, with a few surprises along the way. I thought I had seen nearly everything, but at this wedding reception one of the Groomsmen actually “entertained the ladies” by doing a striptease on the dance floor. I would post some photos, but perhaps certain individuals would prefer to remain nameless.

Continuing Education

My focus for the past few weeks has been education.  I believe it’s important to stay current by attending continuing education seminars.

On March 17th (yes, Saint Patrick’s Day) I attended a seminar by Ed Pierce, “Captivated By the Light”, where Ed showed how he and some other photographers work primarily with constant light sources and reflectors, and less with strobelights (flashes) that can be distracting and less predictable during photo sessions.  For me, this is especially useful for outdoor portraits of the Bride & Groom.

I’m currently attending the “Heartland of America” Professional Photographers of America (PPA) Conference, and am taking several classes including a wedding photography workshop with a well known Midwest photographer who demonstrated how he uses primarily natural light for “Bride & Groom” poses.

While I don’t specialize in Infant photography, I am sometimes asked by clients and friends to take portraits of their babies, so next up on May 1 is “Bellies & Babies” with nationally known photographer Sandy Puc.  Besides her award-winning photography, Sandy is well known for her work with Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep”, a community of photographers that provide bereavement photo services to families experiencing the loss of an infant.
